Renting a Prius from Hertz Rental Car

Did you know Hertz rents the Prius? The Prius in the below video was rented in San Antonio fairly inexpensively, about $65 for the weekend. With gas at around $4/gallon you’ll save a ton on gas and do your part to be green.

As you’ll hear from the video, the Prius that Hertz rents are fairly well appointed. They have the backup cameras, bluetooth and oh did we mention that you’ll get 50+ miles a gallon?

Hybrid-rental-car.com has been in touch with Enterprise Rental Car. They currently rent more than 4000 hybrid cars all though out the country. If so if you are looking to rent a hybrid car, try Enterprise. Make sure to specifically request a hybrid during the reservation process or you may be stuck driving an SUV or worse.

I am not able to find reasonable prices for renting a hybrid in Portland, Oregon. For five days I can get a midsize for $105 and they want nearly $400 for the Prius. I do not understand this as the Prius is not an expensive car to purchase. They list it as a specialty car. The mid-size car I would be renting is similiar in purchase price to the Prius so I am not sure why they are charging 4 times the amount unless they are just doing it because they can.

I am likely to buy a Prius soon but certainly would like to drive one for a week first. I might try the dealerships that rent cars.

Have you tried any of the places on the “about renting a hybrid car” page? There are several companies and depending on when you want to rent your prius, you can get them quite competitively. Also, keep in mind the demand for hybrid cars as rentals is quite high but overall production is quite low.
